Last Thursday, the Austin Ad Fed held their annual awards ceremony for the American Advertising Awards, better known as "The Addys". The 2015 theme of the event was "Own it", personified by a romance between a farming Amish man and a sultry dominatrix. Velvet Cartel had the privilege of producing some of the Addy Awards content, including the 2-hour award video for the ceremony and, alongside Marketing Matters and Couture Details event planners, we created some interesting themed material. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=md84xn_YJpg
The American Advertising Awards transformed the Austin Music Hall into an interactive event space. Beyond the velvet ropes and the step and repeat, the hall was filled with thematic round tables that were furnished with psuedo-embroidered logos, handcuffs and masks. One side of the hall was lined with touch-screen exhibits and a row of displays of entrants and campaigns. We're not sure how they did it, but Marketing Matters even fitted the giant on-stage Addy with a giant ball-gag. Own it, right? The live entertainment was simply amazing. Local musician, Stephanie Salvo (dominatrix) and actor, Heath Allyn (Amish man) performed an "own it/Addys" inspired rap complete with dominatrix back up dancers.
Austin's best and brightest were celebrated for their ingenuity and hard work in advertising. We thoroughly enjoyed experiencing a year's worth of successful marketing campaigns. We were honored to perform our role in the show. To view a list of the winners or to check out the footage from the "Dom and Amish" themed photo booths (Bill Peary Photography), click HERE. We can't wait for next year!
